Antique C. F. Monroe Wave Crest Art Glass Dresser Box | c. 1900
An exquisite piece of turn-of-the-century decorative art glass, this authentic C. F. Monroe Wave Crest dresser box dates to approximately 1900 and showcases the romantic craftsmanship for which Wave Crest pieces are collected.
Measuring approximately 7” wide × 4” high, the box features a beautifully sculpted, dimensional form with a creamy opal glass ground. Delicate hand-painted florals in soft pink, blue, gray and touches of warm orange trail across the surface, accented by tiny raised enamel beading that gives the decoration wonderful texture and detail.
A warm gilt metal frame surrounds the box and retains its hinged lid and front clasp. Open the box to reveal a lovely gold satin-lined interior, adding another layer of old-world charm.
Originally intended as a dresser or vanity box, today it would be beautiful used to hold jewelry, keepsakes, love letters, ribbons or other small treasures. Equally lovely displayed on a vanity, dresser, bedside table or stacked among antique books and collected objects.
