Vintage Natural Malachite Hexagonal Trinket Box | Gemologist Estate Find

A tiny piece with a wonderful story.

This beautiful vintage trinket box was discovered in the home of a gemologist, among a collection of stones and mineral objects. Based on the style of the piece and the history associated with similar carved malachite objects, it was most likely sourced from the Congo, formerly known as Zaire—a region celebrated for producing some of the world’s most extraordinary malachite.

Carved and polished into a petite hexagonal form, the box displays remarkable natural patterning. Deep emerald and vivid green bands sweep across the stone alongside distinctive concentric “bull’s-eye” formations. Every face has its own pattern, making this little box beautiful from every angle.

A fitted removable lid completes the piece. At just over 2 inches across, it is perfectly sized for a treasured ring, earrings, tiny keepsakes, or simply displayed as a decorative mineral specimen.
